Overnight security alert in south Belfast

The Lisburn Road in south Belfast has been closed in both directions overnight following the discovery of a suspicious object in the area.
Around midnight a PSNI spokesman said traffic was being diverted at Myrtlefield Park and Balmoral Avenue.
A PSNI spokesman said: “A suspicious object examined on the Lisburn Road in Belfast overnight was found to be a hoax.
“The item has been removed and the road reopened at around 4.20am.”
Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
